Annie Lennox trying too hard to be creative and disappearing up her own rear unfortunately. Seems to happen to a lot of artists who have massive success as part of a group then seem to lose sight of what makes a good song when they branch out into solo stuff. She has done some excellent solo work in the past but each of her solo albums has got progressively less tuneful to this latest dirge. Other than the single Dark Road nothing else stands out. And yes, she supports some very valid political/social causes which is all very commendable but you do feel it is rammed down your throat when it has to be announced at the beginning of the song Sing as well as written about in the lyrics booklet (you just want to listen to some good music!). Does she really have to mix the politics with her music to this extent. We can see on the news that she supports these causes so she is getting the message across. Also, she has always been prone to ad lib during songs and put in all these shouts and yeahs etc rather than just sing the lyric and leave it at that without adding all these extra vacal bits. But on this album she does it on every single song to the point of irritation for the listener. Don't know what you were thinking with this album, Annie, but you've lost the plot!! Give us some great pop songs like you used to and leave the politics out of the recording studio.
